The pretty purple flowers are Canada Thistle unfortunately an invasive species in BC.

Circle route from Kamloops thru Douglas Lake Ranch.

Started out this morning on Highway 5A.  Drove past Knutsford and past several beautiful lakes.  The first was Shumway Lake and it's long and quite narrow so is great for rowing .

The Bull at Riverside Park

The area around Kamloops is known for its large cattle ranches.   The cattlemen's association  donated the bull statue.  It seems to be welcoming visitors to the park.

Riverside Park, Kamloops

Downtown Kamloops on the Thompson River. ....a beautiful park with trees and gorgeous views.   Saw about 20 young people standing around with their smart phones.  Probably it's a WiFi hotshot. Should have got a picture...at least they were out in nature.
Also the ice arena which has been named many things over the past few years but is presently the Sandman Centre.

From Kamloops viewpoint

The city name means "meeting of the waters ".   Views are of the North Thompsons River, the South Thompson and where they meet.   As the Thompson it flows west to Lytton where it meets the mighty Fraser River.

Kamloops Airport /Fulton Field

Trip out to the airport this evening.   Wish I was going somewhere but have to work to support my travelling habit.
The airport is named after John "Moose" Fulton who was the Squadron Leader  of 419 Squadron during the 2nd world War. He was killed on return from a mission but was so respected that the Squadron was named after him.  419 Squadron is in Cold Lake Alberta but continues to have strong ties with the city of Kamloops where Moose grew up. The CF 5 is on display outside is a gift from the Squadron.
