Wonderful to sit outside on my friends deck near Qualicum Beach and watch the bees buzzing around the lavender. Lots of hummingbirds at the feeders as well.

Radar Hill near Long Beach on Vancouver Island
Little bit of a hike up to this viewing area which was a Canadian Armed Forces radar site during the WW2. Also there is a memorial to the Canadian Forces members who fought in the Korean War. Beautiful view from this point.

Meares Island off Tofino
I remember seeing this over 20 years ago when the top of the mountain had been logged completely. It was a terrible eyesore for tourists and it is nice to see that it has filled in nicely now.

Roy Henry Vickers Gallery in Tofino
I visited this gallery about 20 years ago and found it to be the same delightful place. I had bought a wonderful print of "Portholes" which was 5 different prints of totem poles. It was still available but was framed horizontally rather than vertically as mine is. Vickers is one of Canada's foremost First Nations artists.

Long Beach
On the west coast of Vancouver Island. What a beautiful place and so different from where I live. I so enjoy the ocean with its sounds, sights and smells. This is a world famous place for surfing.

Sand sculptures in Parksville
We arrived at the right time for the competition. The theme was "Wild Things" and there were some unbelievable sculptures. It was hard to chose one to vote for.

When you're on Vancouver Island there are so many wonderful places to visit. This is on the eastern side and the beach was wonderful.

Englishman River Falls Provincial Park
Not far from Qualicum Beach and another great place to walk. Of course the falling water and trees make this a wonderful experience.

Little Qualicum Falls park
What a wonderful area to walk in and we didn't have to drive there as my friend literally lives across the street. Apparently some times of the year the falls are more spectacular but I thought they were pretty nice .

More pictures of Hatley
We had a wonderful walk around the grounds. Several signs of it having been a military college. A statue of 3 cadets holding the world up together with the words "Truth Duty Valour.
Trees of Hatley Park
There are the most wonderful trees on the grounds of Royal Roads. Many species foreign to Canada including Gary Oak, London Plane Tree, and 2 Monkey Puzzle Trees.
