Kamloops City Hall

The city hall and the statue of the Overlanders the first settlers to arrive.  They came on a raft down the North Thompson River. Unfortunately many of the copper plaques on statues and buildings have been stolen and not replaced.

Stained glass windows from the courthouse

Lovely stained glass windows.  The crosses are those that make up the British Union Jack. St. Andrew's Cross, St Patrick's Cross, and St George's Cross.

more of the courthouse

From the outside this time. A 3 storey Edwardian Baroque building completed in 1911.

The old Kamloops courthouse

Now a gallery, built in 1911 and very well preserved.  Arts and crafts style on the inside.  Some views of the courtroom. The woodwork and ceiling are amazing.

a walk along tranquille creek

I see on some maps it's referred to as a river and certainly looks like one this time of year.  Lots of beaver activity there too.

Kamloops cactus

When I  first moved to Kamloops I heard there were cacti growing locally.  Every time I was driving around I would look for them and never spotted any...of course I was looking for the wrong thing.

This is what they really look like...clumps on the ground.
